LYRICS
The window shows a world of white
I hear a Christmas song tonight
I hung your favorite ornament
And felt a warmth heaven-sent
Then I turned and almost called your name
‘Cause I felt your presence in the frame
And in that moment, time stood still
I swore I felt you near, so real
So tell me, is there snow where you are?
Do the angels stop to hear you sing?
I try to find you in every star
And feel you here as the night goes by
It’s not the same, and I’ll miss you forever
But your love still warms my fragile heart
And keeps the missing pieces close together
At Christmas where you are
Your favorite songs came on today
And each one took my breath away
We left your seat just as it stayed
Last Christmas, you were near
We all knew what that empty space
Meant to us throughout years
And when we sent our thoughts to you
It felt like you were here
So tell me, is there snow where you are?
Do the angels stop to hear you sing?
I try to find you in every star
And feel you here as the night goes by
It’s not the same, and I’ll miss you forever
But your love still warms my fragile heart
And keeps the missing pieces close together again
At Christmas where you are
I can’t touch you, but I hear your voice
I can’t hold you, but I know you’re close
In every laugh, in every single tear
Your love is the light I’ve found
It lifts me up and carries me near
So I hear your voice in the winter air
I see your smile in the shining lights
I feel your warmth in every prayer
It carries me through the longest nights
Our love can’t fade, it lives forever
Even when the world feels dark
It pulls the broken pieces back together…
This Christmas where you are
Yeah… I feel you near, always here
At Christmas where you are
Every Christmas, a few faces come to my mind. People I love, people I miss, people who still feel like part of the season even though they’re no longer here.
You probably have that special someone too.
The lyrics follow those everyday things we all go through, and it usually comes through the little moments: a song they loved, putting up the tree, setting the table, or decorating the house.
While writing this song, I felt like I was having a quiet chat with the people I was missing, letting them know I still thought of them.
I didn’t want this song to be sad or heavy, though.
I wanted it to bring you warmth — the kind of warmth you get when you remember something you’ve done together and know you’re being watched over.
It’s more about connection than loss.
That’s the feeling behind Christmas Where You Are.
I chose my favourite combo — piano and cello — to give the song its emotional weight.
When the cello came in, the memories with them brought tears to my eyes.
I hope it finds a place in your heart too.
If you’re missing someone this Christmas, I hope this song reminds you that they’re still part of you. Still close. Still cheering you on in their own way.
Wherever they are… they’re not far from you.
