As a mum of a lively toddler and part of a loving family of three – soon to be four – I find myself at a very special phase in life.
Deep down, I’ve always felt that I was meant to have another child, specifically a son.
This wasn’t just a wish; I genuinely believed it was destined to be.
Just as my husband and I began discussing the possibility of expanding our family, life had its own plans.
To my surprise and boundless joy, my baby boy is on his way and will be with us in just a couple of weeks.
So, here I am, sharing with you a heartfelt letter to my soon-to-arrive son.
This post is dedicated to anyone who might be navigating the same thrilling, emotional waters that I am right now.
Dear Bump,
I’ve waited more than a century for you. Welcome back to our family.
Before you even take your first breath in this world, I want to give you a glimpse of the journey that lies ahead.
You’re entering an era brimming with temptations, a generation rich in choices, and a life full of endless possibilities.
It might seem overwhelming at first, but trust me, you’ll find your way.
You may sometimes wonder why your upbringing differs from that of your sister.
The reason is simple: each of us is born with a unique purpose, and you have yours to discover.
Three years ago, I wrote a letter to your sister advising her to love herself. That’s the crucial life skill she needs to master to support her family, gather life’s fruits, and pass them on to her heirs.
For you, my son, the message I want to impart is this: free yourself. Break free from the societal mental traps that surround us. Liberate yourself so you can excel as a hunter, build, and one day lead your own tribe.
For this reason, you won’t have an abundance of clothes and toys, nor will we enrol you in the most expensive schools.
What you can expect from this family, however, is an abundance of love, tears, freedom, support, and happiness.
We’ll equip you with everything you need to be your best self, to unleash your potential, and to live the life you desire.
We’ll guide you and watch you make mistakes – both big and small – in your early years.
This way, you’ll learn to navigate obstacles with bravery and courage in the future, whether or not we’re by your side.
Don’t worry, son. One of the best gifts you’ll receive from us in this life is a blueprint to success and happiness.
But first, let me introduce you to our home planet – Earth.
Its beauty is beyond words. Life here is as wonderful as you choose to make it.
Together as a family, we’ll explore as much of this planet as we can in the time we have.
In this universe, there’s always a balance – yin and yang, two sides of a coin.
Strive to stand on the edge of that coin. Doing so will give you a clear vision of both worlds, enabling you to make the most informed decisions in life.
Remember, the ultimate measure of success is striking the right balance between time and value.
You’ll soon realise that there’s no absolute right or wrong – only perspectives. Coupled with an attitude of gratitude, your perspectives will shape your life on Earth.
Lastly, brace yourself for some serious cuddles and kisses. Your sister has been practising diligently, and she’s coming for you in full force.
