Tutukaka Coast is one of the top coastal destinations to visit in Northland, New Zealand. It’s about a 3 hours drive from Auckland central, making it an excellent family road trip for the weekend! With kids in our lives, sometimes a relaxing weekend away is all we need to replenish and recharge.

In this post, we share our photos, travel video vlog and our review for the budget family-friendly accommodation that we stayed in – Pacific Rendezvous Resort Motel.

We’re travelling with our 19-month-old toddler this time, so we needed regular stops. There are many stop-over opportunities along the way, such as Matakana Market & Oysters, Leigh by the sea, and Whangarei.

We believe kids need more adventures than toys and technologies, this road trip provided our toddler exactly that! Kyra loved running on the beaches and digging her toes in the sand. She learned to pull silly faces, and challenged herself to climb on top of a lookout vantage point. I really enjoyed watching her reaching new milestones as she explored her new surroundings and embraced every little detail of nature around her.

Accommodation

We stayed at Pacific Rendezvous for the weekend, and really enjoyed the peace and quiet of this tranquil place. We visited in September, the beginning of Auckland’s summer, and a shoulder season for tourism. To our surprise, we almost had the pool and spa all to ourselves!
