From the moment we set foot on the property, we were captivated by the sight of palm trees reaching out to the ocean, a sight that became even more enchanting as the sun began its descent. If you’re lucky enough to snag one of the beachfront fales, you’ll have a front-row seat to this stunning spectacle every evening.

The Refurbishment of Saletoga Sands Resort
In early 2020, Saletoga Sands Resort completed a significant refurbishment that breathed new life into the property. The resort’s layout was thoughtfully redesigned, introducing a new swimming pool complete with a swim-up bar at the heart of the resort.
If relaxation is what you’re after, the on-site spa is your haven. The spa has been revamped as part of the refurbishment, offering a range of treatments by skilled therapists. It’s the perfect place to unwind and let the stress of everyday life melt away. If you have specific preferences for your massage or other treatments, don’t hesitate to communicate these to the therapists. They are more than willing to tailor their approach to ensure your spa experience is as relaxing and rejuvenating as possible.
The grounds of the resort were also improved, with beautifully landscaped gardens and paved paths that weave through the resort, making it more accessible, particularly for families with strollers. Additionally, small slides were added on the lagoon sides, further enhancing the family-friendly amenities of the resort.
The fales, nestled in the newly developed wing closer to the main pool and spa area, have undergone a significant upgrade. They now boast new furniture, tasteful décor, and enhanced amenities. These revamped fales offer more room and privacy compared to their older counterparts. Even the bathrooms have been updated, and the provision of bug sprays, though seemingly minor, greatly enhances the guest experience. The resort, with its luxurious and modern upgrades, feels more interconnected than ever, providing a seamless blend of comfort and convenience.
We’re very happy to see the owners took Saletoga Resort to the glory that it should have. The refurbishment has truly brought out the potential of this beautiful resort. Now, there is a greater sense of community among guests at this resort. This transformation was so impressive that it prompted us to completely revise this review. We’re looking forward to returning and experiencing these fantastic improvements firsthand in the near future.

Every morning at Saletoga Sands Resort, we were greeted with a tropical continental breakfast at the Bungalow Restaurant. A delightful spread of fruits, cereals, and pastries set the tone for the day.
As lunch and dinner rolled around, the same restaurant transformed into a hub of delicious meals, accompanied by live traditional Samoan music. These cultural experiences added a unique and enriching dimension to our holiday, and they are just a taste of the many things to do in Samoa, making every day of your holiday an adventure.
Themed Nights
For those who appreciate buffet-style dining, Saletoga Sands Resort offers a variety of themed nights throughout the year, including BBQ nights and FiaFia nights. No matter the theme, the menu consistently presents a fusion of local and international flavours. The seafood dishes, freshly caught and skilfully prepared, were particularly memorable, providing a taste of the Pacific that lingers long after the meal.

For first-time visitors to Samoa, experiencing a FiaFia night is an absolute must. These traditional Samoan celebrations offer an incredible opportunity to immerse oneself in the local culture. With traditional dances, music, and food on offer, FiaFia nights serve as a vibrant introduction to Samoan history and traditions. These cultural experiences were a highlight of our stay, adding a rich layer of depth to our understanding of Samoa.
One of the most exhilarating aspects of FiaFia nights is undoubtedly the fire dancing. This traditional Samoan art form, known as “Siva Afi,” is a spectacle that leaves spectators spellbound. As the sun sets and the night sky takes over, the fire dancers take centre stage, their flaming torches illuminating the darkness.
The dancers, displaying exceptional skill and agility, manipulate the fire with an ease that belies the danger of their craft. The rhythmic dance, combined with the crackling of the fire and the beat of the drums, creates an atmosphere that is both thrilling and mesmerising.

Watching the fire dancers, we felt a profound connection to the spirit of Samoa, its history, and its people.
