Sheraton Samoa Beach Resort is equipped with a range of facilities to enhance your stay. You can take a dip at Lagoon Bay, try various water sports, maintain your fitness routine at the gym, or enjoy a game of tennis. For those seeking relaxation, the resort’s spa is the perfect place to unwind.
As for the younger guests, the Dolphins Kids Club is a haven of fun and learning. Catering to children aged 3-12 years, the staff ensures they have a good time so the parents can relax and enjoy the resort’s amenities for a well-deserved break. Hooray! Our favourite part of a resort stay.
A Splash of Luxury by the Pool
As our Apia adventure was nearing its end, we found ourselves stepping into the Sheraton Samoa Beach Resort, ready for the grand finale. We arrived a tad early for check-in, so we had the perfect excuse to stash our luggage and dive straight into the resort’s stunning pool.
Perched right by the ocean, the pool mirrored the luxury found in many Pacific Islands resorts. The crystal-clear turquoise blue of the ocean seemed to dance with the pool’s waters, creating a mesmerising spectacle. With hardly any other guests around, it felt as though we had our own private beach in paradise.
While our rooms were being prepared, we lounged on the sunbeds, sipping on refreshing mocktails (still breastfeeding). As the tropical sun warmed our skin, we took a plunge into the shimmering pool. Without needing to leave the pool, we enjoyed a scrumptious lunch directly from the swim-up bar.
Lagoon Bay: A Man-Made Marvel
One of the reasons we speak so highly of Sheraton Samoa Beach Resort is its very own man-made island, fondly known as Lagoon Bay. This island oasis was created in the 1960s by the resort’s original owners, Aggie Grey and her husband, Bert, who transformed a shallow offshore area into an island by dredging sand from the seabed.
Today, Lagoon Bay is a vibrant hub within the resort, just steps away from the restaurants, bars, and swimming pool. Much like us, if you find yourself unable to take your eyes off the mesmerising lagoon, you can order food and drinks right from the comfort of your lounger. Whether you’re in the mood for a laid-back lunch by the water or an intimate dinner under the stars, Lagoon Bay caters to every whim and fancy.
But the allure of Lagoon Bay doesn’t stop there. The clear and calm waters that surround the island are teeming with marine life, including turtles, a variety of fish species, and colourful coral reefs. This makes it a sought-after spot for snorkelling and diving, offering guests a chance to immerse themselves in the captivating underwater world of the South Pacific.
Indeed, our one-night stay didn’t give us enough time to fully enjoy all the resort had to offer. Very bummed.
Despite our short stay, the wait for our room turned into an indulgent interlude as we soaked up the tropical paradise, utterly captivated by the postcardesque view of Lagoon Bay. We were in no hurry to be anywhere else, and we found ourselves wishing we could extend our stay at Sheraton Samoa Beach Resort.

The Rooms at Sheraton Samoa Beach Resort
Our relaxing poolside escapade was followed by a seamless transition into our air-conditioned room at the Sheraton Samoa Beach Resort. The cool, comfortable room was a welcome retreat from the tropical heat. We were allocated on the ground floor and the room’s courtyard opened out onto an expansive green pasture that gently sloped down to meet the azure ocean, creating a breathtaking panorama.
The resort’s rooms were spread across 3 blocks, all facing the oceanfront. The furthest block was a bit of a stroll away from the main entertainment area, but the journey was far from tedious. In fact, it was such an enjoyable walk along the beach, with the grass tickling our feet and the refreshing ocean breeze in our hair. We even spotted the adorable Samoan Myzomela bird hopping on the grass, its vibrant red and black colours are a unique sight on this beautiful island.
The room itself was a haven of tranquillity. Spacious and well-appointed, it provided all the comforts essential for an unforgettable stay. Our baby found joy in the simplest of things, happily lounging on the chair, watching birds and people on the expansive lawn, pointing and squealing in excitement. Among these cherished moments was a soothing bath I shared with her – a moment of pure bliss that I will always cherish.
Our Dining Experience: A Culinary Delight
As dusk fell, we put on our breezy summer dresses, ready to indulge in a culinary journey. The sky transformed into a canvas of vibrant oranges, providing a beautiful backdrop to our dining experience at the resort’s restaurant. The ambience was a harmonious blend of tropical island vibes and a gentle Samoan breeze, and the soothing strains of live music filled the air.
Just as we were immersing ourselves in this island symphony, the shrill cry of our little one pierced the air, signalling the onset of the ‘purple hour’. That delicate balance of hunger and tiredness was about to tip, and our perfect island vibe was interrupted. As any parent knows, this is part and parcel of travelling with a little one, and we were in the perfect place to address both her needs.
The menu at Sheraton Samoa Beach Resort offered a variety of fine dining dishes, each prepared with the freshest ingredients. Just as our little one was starting to get restless, our drinks arrived with perfect timing. Among the cocktails and mocktails, there was a whole coconut, freshly cut and ready to serve. The sight of the coconut, round like her favourite ball, immediately caught our baby’s attention. She had her first taste of a fresh coconut at Sopo’aga Falls during this trip, and it still fascinated her. As she sipped the sweet nectar, her eyes sparkled with delight. This distraction was our saving grace; it not only kept her entertained but also added another cherished memory to our Samoan adventure.
Our orders arrived shortly after, and among the array of dishes, the seafood was absolutely delectable. Freshly caught and expertly cooked, the portions were generous, and the presentation was impeccable. It made me – a seafood lover – very happy. As we savoured our meal and soaked in the beauty around us, we couldn’t help but feel a sense of contentment. The dining experience at Sheraton Samoa Beach Resort was truly a feast for all our senses.
Adventure and Relaxation at Sheraton Samoa Beach Resort
As we’ve touched on earlier, Sheraton Samoa Beach Resort provides complimentary non-motorised water activities. Imagine gliding across the crystal-clear waters on a kayak or testing your balance with stand-up paddleboarding. These activities not only offer fun and excitement but also allow you to appreciate the stunning ocean views from a different perspective.
The resort also offers unique cultural experiences such as Umu Demonstrations. This traditional Samoan cooking method involves preparing food in an earth oven, or ‘umu’. It’s a fascinating process to watch and even more delightful when you get to taste the results!
For those in search of tranquillity and restoration, the Polynesian Spa is an absolute must. With a variety of treatments aimed at soothing the body and revitalising the spirit, it’s the ideal retreat after a day filled with activities.
As for our younger guests, the Kid’s Club at Sheraton Samoa Beach Resort is a treasure trove of fun. It offers a range of engaging and educational activities specifically designed for children. It’s a secure and delightful environment where they can form new friendships and create their own unforgettable holiday experiences.
With such a diverse range of activities and experiences, we were seriously tempted to change our return flight back to Auckland.
Why Sheraton Samoa Beach Resort is our Family’s Favourite
Our time at the Sheraton Samoa Beach Resort, though brief, was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we set foot on the property, the charm of Lagoon Bay captivated us. It quickly became clear that this resort was the perfect choice for a family getaway in Apia, Samoa.
Every corner of the resort whispered of relaxation, service, and fun, creating an ideal setting for families to bond and create lasting memories. Despite being a little further from the main attractions on the islands, the resort’s range of activities kept us engaged and entertained throughout our stay.
As we packed our bags to leave, the allure of the resort, combined with the enchanting beauty of Samoa, had us dreaming of extending our stay for another week, or perhaps even indefinitely, in this paradise.
