Over the years, I have picked up some powerful books to read on vacations.
Some has changed my perspectives on certain areas of life, and others have helped me gain clarity on how I can achieve my life goals.
Ultimately, reading has changed my life for the better.
Ironically, I have never been a reader.
But call it fate, the books that I’m about to recommend have stumbled into my life by accident, and I’m so grateful that they fell into my lap because I have found enjoyment in reading ever since.
In this post, I will share 5 powerful books to read on vacation and tell a tale of how they have changed my life for the better.
If reading isn’t your thing, remember there are other channels out there like audiobooks and videos.
Again, if you find this post useful, please spread the love by liking and sharing.

The Power of Now
I was stuck in a boring corporate job at one stage.
My colleague handed me The Power of Now to pass the time, and I couldn’t thank him enough!
I was in a very messy stage of life at that time, and this book changed me forever.
It shed light on why I was in the state I was in and transformed my life for the better.
Reading and understanding a book is one thing; putting its lessons into practice is another.
It requires a lot of self-discipline and awareness, but the effects are powerful.
If there’s one book I could recommend to anyone seeking ultimate happiness in life, this is the one you should read on your next vacation.

by Eckhart Tolle
Much more than simple principles and platitudes, The Power of Now takes readers on an inspiring spiritual journey to find their true and deepest self and reach the ultimate in personal growth and spirituality: the discovery of truth and light.
In the first chapter, Tolle introduces readers to enlightenment and its natural enemy, the mind. He awakens readers to their role as a creator of pain and shows them how to have a pain-free identity by living fully in the present.
The journey is thrilling, and along the way, the author shows how to connect to the indestructible essence of our Being, the eternal, ever-present One Life beyond the myriad forms of life that are subject to birth and death.
Only after regaining awareness of Being, liberated from Mind and intensely in the Now, is there Enlightenment.
Rich Dad, Poor Dad
Rich Dad, Poor Dad was the first financial education I came across. I was 26 at the time.
It turned my view on wealth upside down, and I learned the power of financial education and money mindset.
This book encouraged me to write, even when I failed English at school.
It gave me the courage to challenge my parents’ way of thinking and took action on achieving my own financial freedom.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but money is one of the biggest holdbacks for families who would like to travel full time.
Rich Dad, Poor Dad will set you on the right path and point you in the right direction to achieve the freedom of travelling full time.

by Robert Kiyosaki
The #1 Personal Finance book of all time, Robert Kiyosaki shares the story of his two dad: his real father, whom he calls his poor dad, ‘ and the father of his best friend, the man who became his mentor and his rich dad.’
One man was well educated and an employee all his life, the other’s education was street smarts” over traditional classroom education and he took the path of entrepreneurship a road that led him to become one of the wealthiest men in Hawaii.
Robert’s poor dad struggled financially all his life, and these two dads? These very different points of view of money, investing, and employment shaped Robert’s thinking about money.
Robert has challenged and changed the way tens of millions of people, around the world, think about money and investing and he has become a global advocate for financial education and the path to financial freedom.
The Miracle Morning
I came to know about The Miracle Morning from a property seminar and thought it was interesting how getting up at a crazy hour of 4 am could impact someone’s life this much.
So I picked up this book to read from the library the next day.
From the first chapter, I was blown away by how much sense it all made in such a bizarre way.
The Miracle Morning truly opened my mind to how success can be achieved by changing small habits and making the most out of the golden hours of the day.
Okay, it’s easier said than done.
For many years, I tried getting up before sunrise. Some days I was up and feeling pumped and ready to take on the world, but some days I just wanted to sleep in.
Since I read The Miracle Morning, the idea of getting up early was rooted in my subconscious mind.
I was able to apply the knowledge learned from this book and made good use of the sleepless hours as a new mum.
So if you’re in the same boat, this is one of the powerful books to read on your next vacation!

The 5 Love Languages
Throughout the years, I learned a perfect relationship doesn’t just happen. It takes work, hard works. And even then, a relationship will never be perfect.
Just like we have always believed in fairy tales that we will live happily ever after, yeah… It’s fictional.
At least not without some real commitments, sacrifices and learnings along the way.
Understanding the science of human psychology itself is a skill that needs to be acquired to live a happy life.
Love needs to be constantly repaired and nourished for it to blossom.
The 5 Love Languages effortlessly enlightened me on exactly how to achieve that in the simplest way.
Although written for men, I think this book benefits women just as much.

by Gary Chapman

The 4 Hour Work Week
We’ve all heard the saying, “Work smart, not hard!” But no one taught us how.
The 4 Hour Work Week changed my belief about investing time to produce results.
It taught me one of the most powerful tools for achieving success: leverage.
I was raised in a family that took pride in hard work. We dedicated ourselves to going the extra mile at our jobs, earning money for our bosses.
Throughout those years, I believed I was doing the right thing by working hard, but little did I know I was putting in effort in the wrong directions.
If the ladder is not leaning against the right wall, every step we take just gets us to the wrong place faster.
Stephen R. Covey
I never knew leveraging and automation existed, until I read this book.
As you may have guessed. Since then, I changed the course of my run and started working smart (or at least consciously trying to).
Today, my family still calls me lazy while I live on island time, listening to their complaints about not being paid overtime.
The 4-Hour Work Week is super easy to read, yet it has the power to change lives.
If you also want to laze on a hammock and not worry about a dime like on the book cover, pick up this book to read on your next vacation!

by Timothy Ferriss
A new, updated and expanded edition of this New York Times bestseller on how to reconstruct your life so it’s not all about work.
Forget the old concept of retirement and the rest of the deferred-life plan – there is no need to wait and every reason not to, especially in unpredictable economic times.
Whether your dream is escaping the rat race, experiencing high-end world travel, earning a monthly five-figure income with zero management, or just living more and working less, this book is the blueprint.
This step-by-step guide to luxury lifestyle design teaches:
- How Tim went from $40,000 dollars per year and 80 hours per week to $40,000 per MONTH and 4 hours per week.
- How to outsource your life to overseas virtual assistants for $5 per hour and do whatever you want.
- How blue-chip escape artists travel the world without quitting their jobs.
- How to eliminate 50% of your work in 48 hours using the principles of a forgotten Italian economist.
- How to trade a long-haul career for short work bursts and frequent ‘mini-retirements’.
